My Capresso Infinity Conical Burr Grinder Review
Just a brief look at the Capresso Infinity Burr Grinder’s product specs reveals that it is a pretty heavy-duty grinder. A key feature is its 16 grind settings. Capresso breaks the grind settings down into four categories: coarse, regular, fine, and extra fine, therefore giving you four individual settings for each category.
This is in fact quite a bit of control for a burr grinder under $150. It basically enables you to hone in on the ideal grind setting for the type of coffee you are preparing. For regular coffee you would want to use the regular or coarse settings, whereas for Turkish Press or Espresso you would want to use fine or extra fine settings.
The built-in timer helps automate the grinding process. You can set it to grind for between 5 – 60 seconds. A word of caution on the timer though: do not turn the timer dial backwards as this can permanently damage the timer’s functionality.
I read one negative review of this machine where the person stated that they couldn’t turn off the timer. Well, this has nothing to do with the machine, and more to do with the fact that they turned the dial the wrong way. Capresso specifically states in the manual not to do this.
Regarding the grind quality, the Capresso Infinity Burr Grinder produces a pretty consistent grind on most settings. Although it is not the best grinder for espresso, if you don’t want to spend too much money, it will work fine. Also, it does not generate much static throughout the grinding process (since it doesn’t grind too fast), and produces coffee grounds that maintain most of their flavor.
Finally, the Capresso Infinity Burr Grinder features an excellent build quality. The advanced conical burr grinder design is made out of steel and is very durable. From my experiences, this grinder does not break down and can give you years of use.
What Others Think
In order to make this Capresso Infinity Conical Burr Grinder review as comprehensive as possible, I scoured the web for customer feedback and expert reviews. Overall, customers were thrilled with this grinder and would highly recommend it to anyone on a budget.
As far as complaints go, some customers complained that too much coffee was leftover in the grind chamber after use (thus rendering it less fresh upon subsequent uses). Other negative feedback came from customers who had trouble with the machine. Those reviews sounded like they just got a faulty machine – which is not a huge problem if you buy it new, because then it is eligible for the 1 year warranty.
“For the price, I didn’t find one that had the combination of features (and less noise and dust!) found in the Capresso Infinity.” John Neumiller, Amazon.com
“I’ve had my Capresso grinder for over two years now and have been very satisfied with its performance and durability... It is much less expensive than higher-end models, but you get a lot of bang for your buck.” E. Derrenbacher, Amazon.com
- Excellent grinding capabilities for the price
- Less noisy than other grinders
- Sturdy build design; will last a long time
- 1 year warranty
- Provides 16 grind settings; great grind consistency
- Can leave too much ground coffee in the grinding chamber
- Tiny cleaning brush can make cleaning a bit difficult
If you don’t have $200 – 300 to drop on a coffee grinder, than I would highly recommend the Capresso Infinity Burr Grinder. It is well-designed, gives you 16 grind settings, and comes with a 1 year warranty. Despite its small draw backs (leaves coffee grounds behind, small cleaning brush), it gives you great bang for your buck, and is sure to fulfill your coffee grinding needs.
